China's furniture environmental standards have been upgraded again. Export enterprises should pay attention to the new regulations on the control of harmful substances such as formaldehyde and heavy metals, which will come into force compulsorily on July
Since July 1, 2025, the national mandatory standard GB 18584-2025 Limits of Harmful Substances in Furniture will be officially implemented, replacing the GB 18584-2001 version that has been in effect for 20 years. The new standard sets stricter limits for harmful substances such as formaldehyde, benzene series, and migratable heavy metals in office and hotel furniture, especially refining the control over chemical indicators of coatings and fillers for products like leather
Sofas and wooden coffee
Tables.
As an export manufacturer specializing in office and hotel furniture for 15 years, Hythtone Furniture has actively responded to the new regulations. Since 2023, it has carried out raw material screening and process optimization for products including
Chairs (conference chairs/dining chairs), sofas (lobby/guest room models), and coffee tables (metal/glass/wooden); existing products comply with the standards, and test reports under the new standard can be provided at any time; it has established special procurement channels for environmentally friendly materials with high-quality suppliers of leather, panels, etc.; to ensure that export goods meet the latest inspection requirements of the Chinese customs.
"Hythtone's advance planning ensures that customers do not need to worry about order compliance during the transition period," said the company's Quality Control Director. "After the new standard is implemented, we will provide purchasers with free updates of compliance statement documents."
